Located at an elevation of 2,800M above sea level, Auli is a hill station in Uttarakhand, surrounded by oak and coniferous forests. The place is also surrounded by the Nanda Devi and the Nar Parvat mountains. To the north side of Auli, the Badrinath Temple is located, which is a major pilgrimage.
Auli is one of the best destinations in the whole world for skiing. The high slopes rise to an altitude of 3Km with the winds that boosts the thrill in the activity of skiing. There is an artificial lake been constructed in Auli to make sure that the travellers enjoy skiing at any time of the year.
THE BEST TIME TO VISIT : December to March
The Aerial ropeway that runs from Joshimith to Auli is the easiest way to reach Auli as well, which longs over a distance of 4km, which takes around 25 minutes to reach. The ropeway is the only way to reach Auli if the roads get covered with snow.
Trekking to the highest point in Auli to a glimpse at the peaks like the Nanda Devi and Dunagiri. Gorson Bugyal is a beautiful meadow situated at an elevation of 3,056M above sea level. Covered in the lush green vegetation, the meadow is attractive to the eyes during the season of spring. Chattrakund is also a nearby water lake that is worth visiting.
The wonderful snow filled mountains and the alpine meadows of the Kuari Pass has always been an attractive point to the trekkers and the travellers. It gives the amazing view from its elevation point of 12,000 ft. the place not just includes the snow filled area, but also thick green forests. It also gives a wide look at the Mt. Nanda Devi with a breathtaking view.
Popular known for being one of the highest manmade lakes in the whole world, the Auli Artificial Lake was built for skiing purposes by the government itself. The lake is a beautiful scene to spend some valuable time. Even during the winters and the summer, it is one of the best places to spend some time with. One of the best things to actually do in Auli is to watch the sunset from the lakeside.
The Nanda Devi National Park is located among Nanda Devi, which is the second highest peak in India. Various types of high altitude flora and amazing fauna are located in this area.
