The city of Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand, situated at an elevation of 447M. Dehradun is one of the top cities to be in the list with the best educational institutions also giving it the name, the school capital of India. It was founded by Sikh Guru Ram Rai back in the 18th century. There are various types of activities that are popular among the people in this place. Robber’s Cave, the monasteries, the busy shopping areas, bird watching, paragliding, trekking and much more.


At a distance of 8Km from the centre of Dehradun, The Robbers Cave is a naturally formed 600 metre long cave with a high fall of 10meters as well. This amazing spot is famous among the people. It is an ideal spot for a picnic or a vacation spot with the families and others. The place which is peaceful has a stream of water flowing through it which appears at a point and disappears to the ground but comes to the sight after a few yards apart. It is also known as Guchu Pani among the locals.

Clock towers are buildings which are made to house a clock inside, that are larger than any domestic clock. This particular clock tower began its work in the year 1948 and the structure was completed in the year 1953. It is a non active tower in the current scenario.


The Mindrolling Monastery r establish in Dehradun in the year 1965 by Kochhen Rinpoche. It is one of the major six monasteries of Nyingma School, Tibet. The Monastery is an amazing destination of an architectural structure in various sections.  It is a complete extraordinary piece of beauty. There are various art forms, murals and shrines as well as a tall statue of Lord Buddha. It is one of the largest Buddhist centre in the country.


The Tapkeshawar Temple is located on the banks of the river Tons Nadi. It is one of the ancient most places to offer prayers to. A fair is hosted here on the auspicious occasion of Shivaratri, for which, a large crowd comes from various parts. There is a shrine that lies in a cave where water drips on top of the Shivling, after which, the name was given to it as Tapkeshawar Mahadev.


Sahastradhara is one of the most popular destinations in Uttarakhand. The word Sahastradhara means thousand fold spring. The spectacular place is indeed the beauty of nature. The water drips from the presence of limestone stalactites, which makes the water to have ample amount of sulphur in it. And this factor gives the place another name as Sulphur Springs. The magnificent and rejuvenating nature attracts the people from various places.
