ABOUT MUNNAR

This hill station town is located in the Idukki District of Kerala with an elevation of 1,600M above sea level. The name Munnar means “three rivers” in the native language of Malayalam, referring to the rivers, Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly. This beautiful town is known as the “Kashmir of South India” being the popular destination between the tourists. There are protected areas in this region that gives a shelter to the several threatened species such as the Nilgiri Thar, Nilgiri Langur etc. The climate and the Tea plantations are the primary things to do in a tour around Munnar. The flower, Kurinji, blooms once in 12 years in this very region. The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which is 110Km away from Munnar. There are direct flights available from Bangalore to Cochin Airport and one is supposed to take a cab from there.
