The charming hill station in the state of Uttarakhand is located at an elevation of 1,869M above sea level, Ranikhet is famously known for the views of the Himalayas. There are hundreds of bell at the Jhula Devi Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is also famous for Gandhi Kuti (Kuti meaning hut), where The Father of Our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had stayed during the independence struggle days. The name gives a literal meaning as “Queen’s Meadow”. Being one of the popular destinations among the tourists, Ranikhet has many interesting and sightseeing places in and around.


It is a jungle themed park, which is a perfect place for some family time. There are not only the play areas for the kids but also herbal gardens and fountains are situated here. The place provides an amazing look at the Himalayan peaks as well. Ranikhet’s theme park is also known as Deodhar Udhyan as it is a green forest area.


Chaubatai Gardens is a perfect look into the green lush lap of the nature. Covered up to an area of 600 Acres of land, the place is located at a height of 1800 M. These gardens also provide us a quiet majestic look at the Himalayan peaks such as the Nanda Devi, Neelkanth and Trishul.


Built primarily by the then Viceroy of the place for the supply of water to the soldiers of the British Army. The place gives another perfect look at the Himalayan peaks. Surrounded by the forest area, the place is an enchanted place with the various species of birds. It is definitely one of the most relaxing to be done while being in Ranikhet.


One of the most fascinating look at the Himalayan peaks covered in snow is completely visible from this particular place. Majkhali is around 12Km away from Ranikhet.


The Katarmal Sun Temple is known to be the second most significant sun temple in the nation, which is situated around 25Km from Ranikhet. With its historical significant details, the temple was built around 800 years back. It also displays various carvings on the walls and the amazing types of architecture.


The Jhula Devi Temple is an 8th century temple located in the Chaubatai Gardens. The temple has the deity, Lord Durga, sitting on a wooden swing (meaning Jhula), giving it the name Jhula Devi Temple. According to the local people, it is a belief that the Goddess Durga would protect them from the wild animals. The area, which is a forest has various wild animals such as Leopards, tigers etc.


Tarikhet is a place located at a distance of 8 Km away from Ranikhet. The place is well known for the Gandhi Kuti, the place where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his struggle for independence. The village was at those times a centre for all the vital activities that were carried out during the struggle for the freedom.
