Monks on Wheels in collaboration with KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) presents to you Ride to Ooty, a 2-day experience of riding in the most attractive gem of the Nilgiris mountains.
Ooty is awesome! Here’s why?
Ooty is the perfect getaway for nature lovers. Such is the renown of its beauty that it is popularly referred to as the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’. Ooty is lined with traditional and colonial-style buildings, which make it the perfect fusion of the new and the old.

Warning: You are about to read the most exciting section, a signature hand-crafted, Monks On Wheels experience. This is for people who want to join for some true adventure and unique fun.

Detailed Itinerary of Ooty Ride.

Day 1 (Saturday)

1) We say bye to Namma Bengaluru at around 6 AM.
2) A short stop for Breakfast enroute at Hotel Maddur Tiffany’s (Unlimited Food Menu).
3) Continue the ride and reach Hotel Mayura Sudarshan of KSTDC at Ooty
4) Check-in to your rooms and freshen up.
5) Have a sumptuous lunch (Veg & Non Veg) at the hotel.
6) Take a walk after lunch towards Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden which is few meters away from the hotel; enjoy the array of flora that is at display.
7) Ride to the highest peak in The Nigiris Called Doddabetta to witness one most unspeakable sight that awaits you.
8) Return back to the hotel.
9) Freshen up for some tea and piping hot snacks.
10) Gather around for the campfire (if weather permits)
11) Warm up, indulge in activities, or dance the evening away, hosted by our fun-experts.
12) Dig into a traditional dinner which is unlimited! (Veg & Non-veg)
13) Sleep like a baby overnight in twin sharing rooms.

Day 2 (Sunday)

1) Wake up to the sounds of nature to a steaming hot cup of coffee.
2) Ride in the towns of Ooty roads to Toda Temple to experience the culture and traditions of the Toda Tribe who are known as the Guardians of the Nilgiris.
3) Enjoy the morning breakfast.
4) Return back to the hotel, freshen up and check-out at 11am.
5) Visit the famous Pine Forest and have a blast will infinite selfies and pictures.
6) Relax and enjoy the beautiful view.
7) Start the return journey to Bengaluru along the way we stop at the Eucalyptus forest (if time permits) where you will be overwhelmed by the soothing aroma of the eucalyptus.
8) Stop for lunch enroute.
9) Reach Namma Bengaluru in the night (around 9 PM) with memories of a lifetime!

Important Note:-

1) Participants would have to make their own transport arrangements (bike/car) or can join us in the common transport which will be arranged as per requirement (car/tempo). Fuel charges will be additional.
2) Monks on Wheels organisers will have radio communication device as a part of safety measure.
3) Total ride distance will be approximately 660 – 700 km
4) Accommodation will be in Non-AC premium/standard rooms on twin sharing with attached bathroom.
5) A Whatsapp group will be created 2-3 days before the event where all the necessary information like things to carry, assembly point, time etc will be provided.
6) We need a minimum of 6 people to conduct the event or the event might be cancelled with full refund.
7) In an extremely rare scenario, due to unforeseen incidents like natural calamities, road blocks etc. or restrictions by the government or forest department, the itinerary might be changed/modified depending on the situation.

8) If you don’t have a motorcycle, rent a ride at Royal Brothers at a special discount price.

COVID-19 Safety & Guidelines:

Before the event:
1) Only register for the event if you don’t have any symptoms of COVID-19 from the past 14 days.
2) Try to avoid crowded places as much as possible once you register for the event.
3) If you develop COVID-19 symptoms after registering for the event, please do not join the event.
4) MW organizers will be checked for temperature and any symptoms of COVID-19 before joining the tour.
5) Age should be in the range of 18-48 years to join the event.
During the event:
1) Participants will be checked for their body temperature and pulse rate before the start of the event. Anyone with a fever/flu like symptoms, temperature and pulse rate above/below the average range will not be allowed to join the trip.
2) Meals during the journey will be provided at a good and hygienic restaurant. Participants may carry their own plate/lunch box/spoon for all meals provided during the trip.
3) Participants are expected to sanitize themselves regularly and wear masks at all possible times.
4) Avoid interaction with other groups or people outside of the event group.
5) If a participant develops COVID-19 symptoms during the journey, only the that person will be isolated, taken to a nearest hospital and arrangements for that person to return will be made. No one will be allowed to accompany that person.
6) Valid ID proof to be carried.

Rules and instructions for the ride:

1. Helmet is Mandatory for both Rider and pillion.
2. Riding gear is highly recommended.
3. Drink and Drive strictly prohibited.
4. A leader and Sweeper will be assigned. All the riders have to stay between the two.
5. All riders need to get their license and vehicle documents.
6. Only bikes of 150cc and above are allowed.
7. Make sure your bike is serviced and in good condition.
8. Attempting stunts, rash driving and not following the above instruction will lead to direct removal from the group.
The surroundings around the Home stay will make you feel very close to Nature.

1. What is Partial Payment? If partial payment is done, how to pay the remaining amount?
A: Partial payment is an advance paid to block your slot for a particular event. Remaining amount of the event to be paid online/cash on the day of the trip.
2. What kind of transport will be arranged by Monks on Wheels?
A: Monks on Wheels will be arranging an Non – AC tempo traveller or a mini bus depending on the group size.
3. From where will the transportation be arranged?
A: The transport will be arranged from Bengaluru.
4. Where will be pick up points be in Bengaluru?
A: Monks on Wheels will be providing multiple pick up points in Bengaluru and the same will be conveyed with timings 2-3 days before the event.
5. Where should we join, in case we are coming by our own transport arrangements?
A: Once your registration is confirmed, Monks on Wheels shall provide the exact location of our venue 2-3 days before the event.
6. Is there any age limit for Monks on Wheels’ trips?
A: Monks on Wheels do not restrict on the age as each individual has their own capabilities. But we would strongly recommend you to contact us so that our travel expert can give you a better idea of the trip.
7. What kind of events are these?
A: These are group events open to all categories of people.
8. How safe is it for women travelers?
A: Yes, It is completely safe for women travelers. Monks on Wheels events are done keeping certain standards and safety measures. We will always send a minimum of two trip organizers for all our events (many of them women trek leads). 9. What is the ratio of Men & Women in your events?
A: Monks on Wheels usually have more women travelers joining our trips. However, sometimes the ratio will be almost equal.
10. Do you have women trek organizers in Monks on Wheels?
A: Yes, in fact most of Monks on Wheels trek leads are women.
11. What type of venue will it be for the overnight stay? Whether accommodation will be separate for men and women?
A: Monks on Wheels keeps certain quality standards where we provide venues like home stays or campsites that are good and hygienic with neat and clean washrooms.
And yes, we always provide separate accommodation for men and women.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:

1. If the notice is received more than 20 days prior to the event, 100% of the event amount paid will be refunded.

2. If the notice is received up to 20 days prior to the event, 50% of the event amount paid shall be refunded.

3. All cancellation requests made 5 days prior or on the day of the event, no refund will be made.
