Monks on Wheels in collaboration with KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) presents to you Ride to Ooty, a 2-day experience of riding in the most attractive gem of the Nilgiris mountains.
Ooty is awesome! Here’s why?
Ooty is the perfect getaway for nature lovers. Such is the renown of its beauty that it is popularly referred to as the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’
Ooty is lined with traditional and colonial-style buildings, which make it the perfect fusion of the new and the old.
Warning: You are about to read the most exciting section, a signature hand-crafted, Monks on Wheels experience. This is for people who want to join for some true adventure and unique fun.

Short Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday)

  • We say bye to Namma Bengaluru at around 6 AM.
  • A short stop for Breakfast (Unlimited Fixed Menu – Veg)enroute at Hotel Maddur Tiffany’s.
  • Continue the ride and reach Hotel Mayura Sudarshan of KSTDC at Ooty
  • Check-in to your rooms and freshen up.
  • Have a sumptuous lunch (Unlimited Fixed Menu – Veg & Non-Veg) at the hotel.
  • Take a walk after lunch towards Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden which is a few meters away from the hotel; enjoy the array of flora that is on display.
  • Ride in the towns of Ooty roads to Toda Temple to experience the culture and traditions of the Toda Tribe who are known as the Guardians of the Nilgiris.
  • Return back to the hotel.
  • Freshen up for some tea and piping hot snacks.
  • Warm-up, indulge in activities, or dance the evening away, hosted by our fun experts.
  • Dig into a traditional dinner (Unlimited Fixed Menu – Veg & Non-Veg)
  • Sleep like a baby overnight in twin sharing Non-AC premium/standard rooms.

 

Day 2 (Sunday)

  • Wake up to the sounds of nature to a steaming hot cup of coffee.
  • Ride to the highest peak in The Nigiris Called Doddabetta to witness one most unspeakable sight that awaits you.
  • Enjoy the morning breakfast.
  • Return back to the hotel, freshen up and check-out at 11 am.
  • Visit the famous Pine Forest and have a blast will infinite selfies and pictures.
  • Relax and enjoy the beautiful view.
  • Stop for lunch (Self-sponsored) enroute.
  • Reach Namma Bengaluru in the night (around 9 PM) with memories of a lifetime!

Pricing Details

Price per person (Twin sharing Non-AC room): INR 3999 + GST

Advisory

1) Participants would have to make their own transport arrangements (bike/car).
2) Monks on Wheels organizers will have radio communication device as a part of the safety measure.
3) Total ride distance will be approximately 660 – 700 km
4) Accommodation will be in Non-AC premium/standardrooms twin sharing with attached bathroom.
5) A Whatsapp group will be created 2-3 days before the event where all the necessary information like things to carry, assembly point, time etc will be provided.
6) We need a minimum of 6 people to conduct the event or the event might be cancelled with full refund.
7) In an extremely rare scenario, due to unforeseen incidents like natural calamities, road blocks etc. or restrictions by the government or forest department, the itinerary might be changed/modified depending on the situation.
8) Age criteria: Riders must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this event

COVID Safety & Guidelines

Double dose vaccination of COVID-19 or RTPCR Test report of COVID-19 less than 72 hours is mandatory for all participants.

Ride Rules and Instructions

  1. Helmet is Mandatory for both Rider and pillion.
  2. Riding gear is highly recommended.
  3. Drink and Drive strictly prohibited.
  4. A leader and Sweeper will be assigned. All the riders have to stay between the two.
  5. All riders need to get their valid license and vehicle documents.
  6. Only bikes of 195cc and above are allowed.
  7. Make sure your bike is serviced and in good condition.
  8. Attempting stunts, rash driving and not following the above instruction will lead to direct removal from the group.

General FAQs

Partial payment is an advance paid to block your slot for a particular event. Remaining amount of the event to be paid online/cash on the day of the trip.

Monks on Wheels will be arranging an Non – AC tempo traveller or a mini bus depending on the group size.

The transport will be arranged from Bengaluru.

Our trips would get confirmed 2-3 days before the event date and you’ll be added to the trip’s WhatsApp group where you’ll receive further necessary information.

Once your registration is confirmed, Monks on Wheels shall provide the exact location of our venue 2-3 days before the event.

Monks on Wheels do not restrict on the age as each individual has their own capabilities. But we would strongly recommend you to contact us so that our travel expert can give you a better idea of the trip.

These are group events open to all categories of people.

Yes, It is completely safe for women travelers. Monks on Wheels events are done keeping certain standards and safety measures. We will always send a minimum of two trip organizers for all our events. For better understanding on how we manage trips, read these reviews by our solo women travelers.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. If the notice is received more than 20 days prior to the event, 100% of the event amount paid will be refunded.
2. If the notice is received up to 20 days prior to the event, 50% of the event amount paid shall be refunded.
3. All cancellation requests made 5 days prior or on the day of the event, no refund will be made.
4. No refund will be made for any type of cancellation if partial payment is done.
